Finding Guidance

Have you ever felt like someone had turned the lights off to your life and left you behind?

When you feel lost, you may feel like all lights are out.  But you remember when you needed guidance, the presence of God was always there.

When you think about a decision you need to make, how does it make you feel?  Does it make you feel overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, confused, draining or you’re just not sure?  How do you weigh your options?  Psalm 119:105 says Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path (NIV).

Can we find peace in the decision we’ve made?  How can we know that it’s right?  There is a way to know if we are making the right decision because we are always in the presence of God asking Him for His guidance, we will be able to make good choices.

No matter what, you are God’s child and it’s important for you to know that you have the mind of God because He has given you the intelligence and the wisdom you need to make good decisions.  Your heart and mind is open to receive the information given to you by God, therefore, giving you the courage to make the right choices.

God has a plan for your life because His word says in Jerimiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (NIV).

When you’re making decisions, you want to be in alignment with God’s plan for you.  So, you may ask, how do I do that?  Simply, ask God for His guidance.

Psalms 25: 1, 4-5 says: In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.  Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths.   Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

So, when you have identified the what (is the decision I need to make)?  Make sure it’s clear, then identify your options.  Get in the presence of God and find peace.  Take in a deep breath and ask Him to guide you along the way.  Ask Him what is His decision for you.  What is it that He wants you to do?  Be still for a moment and wait.  You may get an answer right then or you may have to wait on it.

Remember, the best decision is the one that is guided by God.
